Three supervisor seats and the positions of county auditor and sheriff will be on the ballot in the Nov. 8 general election. A primary election is slated for June 7.
The terms of supervisors Mick Burkett of District 1, John Muir of District 2, and Guy Richardson of District 5 will expire, as well as the term of county auditor Jane Heun and county sheriff Steve Haupert.
Nominating petitions are now available during regular business hours at the county auditor’s office at the courthouse, or at the Secretary of State’s website at http://sos.iowa.gov/elections/
The petitions must be filed between March 7 and March 30 at 5 pm. Democratic candidates must have a minimum of 25 signatures; Republican candidates must have a minimum of 32 signatures.
Burkett, Muir, Richardson and Heun have all taken out nominating papers and will run as Republicans. Haupert, a Democrat, has not taken out nominating papers and has said he does not intend to run for re-election.
